Arrival in Madrid, El Clásico, and Puerta del Sol

A little over 6 years later, on our way to Madrid again. Pietje Planning had once again scheduled everything as tightly as possible. Landing at 7:00 PM, a quick stop at the apartment and then into the city to watch El Clasico.

At Schiphol, we received a message: some more tickets could be arranged for El Clasico. The first beers were drunk, the flight was on time, so why not, what could go wrong...?

When the seatbelts were fastened and the pilot started speaking, it turned out that the arrival time was not 7:00 PM, but 7:20 PM. Because boarding took a bit longer, we would arrive even later than 7:20 PM. The tight schedule became even tighter. Fortunately, it didn't cut into our drinking time, what followed was a constant queue for the toilets.

Once the plane landed, it was just before 7:30 PM. Quickly on the bus towards the terminal, to collect a suitcase with match scarves from the conveyor belt. Then by taxi to the apartment, get the key and go.

At exactly 8:45 PM, we walked into the Bernabeu, just in time for El Clasico. To our right, the fascists in their white shirts, around us here and there a Catalan shirt. Our mood improved even more when a goal was scored halfway through the first half. Swearing Madrilenians around us, exactly as we want to see it on Tuesday as well.

Towards the end of the match, the bright moment that we hadn't lost many stickers yet. So, we decided to liven things up a bit there before we left. After the match, taxis were almost impossible to find, and we hadn't eaten yet, so that's what we decided to do first.

When the streets quieted down and the food was eaten, we headed back to the city. Arriving at Puerta del Sol, the place where our evening will begin on Tuesday, the first flag was already in the air.

We are ready for Madrid, counting down the days until Tuesday and we're going to make it a great party. Tomorrow and Tuesday, when exchanging tickets, the last match scarves will still be available. On to Tuesday, on to a new piece of history in our history.
