Ajax wants to break its own transfer record for Brazilian wonderkid Reinier Jesus Carvalho. The Amsterdam club has made an opening bid of 25 million euros to Flamengo for the seventeen-year-old attacking midfielder. De Telegraaf reported this news on Friday.

Ajax hopes to outbid European giants Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona. Director of football affairs Marc Overmars has put Reinier at the top of his wish list and was the first to approach Reinier, according to the morning newspaper. Flamengo reportedly has an asking price of forty million euros.

The Eredivisie champion is already preparing for next season, as many key players are being pursued. The transfer budget is well-stocked with the millions from the Champions League flowing in again and the transfer values of the Ajax players continuing to rise. Moreover, Ajax is on course for the national title, which means direct qualification for the billion-dollar tournament next season.

Ajax hopes to benefit from its good contacts in Brazil through Forza Sports Group for Reinier's transfer, De Telegraaf reports. The Dutch agency works with Brazilian agent Giuliano Bertolucci and was previously closely involved in David Neres' arrival. Forza also suggested Richarlison, but he chose Everton over Amsterdam.

Reinier, who celebrates his eighteenth birthday on January 2nd and will then be allowed to make the move to Europe, is regarded as Brazil's biggest talent. He scored five times in ten appearances for Brazil U17. If he comes to Ajax, he will replace Daley Blind (maximum 21 million euros) as the most expensive signing.
