NICO REMAINS LOYAL TO AJAX, also an Ajax player next year!

Tagliafico (26) has played for Ajax for a year and a half and is an important regular in Erik ten Hag's team. The defender is developing rapidly and, as an Argentine international, already participated in the World Cup in Russia. After the tournament, he wore the captain's armband in a few international matches for the South American powerhouse.

Tagliafico's management seemed to be aiming for a step up in the summer, but the player himself now promises that he will remain loyal to Ajax in the summer. 'I want to tell you that I will stay for at least another season,' says Tagliafico via Ajax's social media channels. 'Hopefully, it will be a great year.'

Tagliafico has signed a new contract with Ajax, but with the same term as his old contract: until mid-2022. The new contract contains a so-called commitment, which means that the Argentinian will not leave during the upcoming transfer window.

'This is great news for Ajax and a good signal to the team,' said director of football affairs Marc Overmars. 'It shows that we are ambitious, also for the future.' Andre Onana, Klaas Jan Huntelaar, and Noussair Mazraoui previously signed new agreements with Ajax, while Razvan Marin (Standard Liege), Kik Pierie (sc Heerenveen), and goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen (FC Emmen) have already been secured for the upcoming season.
