Sources at Ajax confirm the news from Bild Zeitung, according to the Telegraaf. The morning newspaper had previously reported on the Bundesliga club's interest in Sinkgraven. The 23-year-old defender is expected to bring Ajax approximately five million euros. Sinkgraven still has a contract in Amsterdam until the summer of 2020. Leverkusen is assured of a place in the Champions League main tournament.
Sinkgraven will be reunited with coach Peter Bosz at Bayer Leverkusen, whom he previously worked with in Amsterdam. Bosz is particularly fond of Sinkgraven, who was bought by Ajax from SC Heerenveen in 2015. Sinkgraven came through the youth academy of the Frisian club.
"For me, Daley was a revelation," the coach said in February of this year on the Ajax website. "He played great during my time as Ajax coach. Lasse Schöne was very important in the 'number six' role. Daley was at least as important at left-back," Bosz stated.
