Ajax supporters' collective wins tender for temporary renovation of De Kuip
The various Ajax supporter groups have won the tender for the temporary renovation of De Kuip. Last Sunday, the collective proved to have reinforced the entire structure at a rapid pace. With the help of stickers, the written-off stadium proved resistant to an immense crowd.
Since there is no money for a new stadium, temporary measures will have to be taken. The supporter groups have pledged to visit at least once a year for a thorough overhaul of the steel scrap heap in the coming years. If the municipality agrees, visits will occur more than once a year.
On Sunday, in addition to reinforcing the structure, a test was also carried out. 15,000 people decided to jump simultaneously to see if the stickers would provide sufficient grip. Police spokesperson Menno L'F. stated that he was impressed. 'Normally on Sundays, I write tickets for illegally parked cars. This Sunday, I was amazed and, thanks to all the glued stickers, felt safe in De Kuip for the first time in a long while.'
