Proud of our boys
Proud! That's how we feel about our boys; they fought hard and showed they stand together as a team. A well-deserved 0-3 victory and a place in the final, on to May 5th! In Rotterdam, they can look forward to September, the start of the next season.
Because traditions are meant to be upheld, the bus once again departed accompanied by fireworks and cheers. This time in Delft, where the local Ikea was no longer blue but red from all the smoke.
The mission was clear: win and ensure we can go to that indoor arena this year. Just before halftime, Matthijs headed a corner kick into the net, followed by a minute of silence. After halftime, it happened again, this time Nico scored. The silence that followed was not a minute this time, but lasted much longer. Dumbfounded port slaves, who apparently had agreed on a vow of silence among themselves.
When the match seemed to be fizzling out, Hakim decided it was time for an encore. Our magician dashed past 4 men, only to then present the ball on a silver platter for Donny. The 0-3 was beautiful, the celebration of the goal even more so. Donny, what a boss you are!
When the final whistle blew in Rotterdam, there was still an Ajax player active in Spain. Luis Suarez already showed how it's done; Real Madrid was put to shame at home. To rub more salt into the Madrilenian wounds, Luis finished with a Panenka, securing the 0-3 final score.
In 6 days, not 1 Ajax player will be on the field, but 11. The away section will not be empty, but 3800 people will be there, for 90 minutes, for our club from Amsterdam. This weekend we are free, plenty of time to travel to Spain. For us, that journey starts already on Saturday, heading towards the sun and an even better result than today.
See you in Madrid!
