8 more games until the winter break
Time usually flies towards the end of the year, except during the international break. Fortunately, we can play football again this weekend; the league resumes at home against Heracles.
Anyone looking at the schedule will see that there are still 8 matches before the winter break. Of these, 2 are European matches. The first of which is next week, away against Lille. Next Wednesday, kick-off is at 9:00 PM in Lille, for the fifth round of the Champions League.
Sunday, December 1st, is the away match in Enschede against FC Twente. The promoted team had a good start to the season, then faltered a bit, but won their last 2 home matches and thus reconnected with the midfield.
After the away match in the east of the country, there will be 2 home matches. First for the league. On Friday, December 6th, Willem II will visit. The team that was last defeated in May in the final of the KNVB Cup.
After the encounter with the Tilburgers, it's the last European match of the year. The final group stage match in the Champions League, at home against Valencia. The match will determine what will be on the schedule after the winter break. All scenarios seem possible, although there will only be something truly meaningful to say after the away match against Lille.
After the midweek program, the Eredivisie topper is on the calendar. Away at AZ, the (currently still) numbers 1 and 2 will kick off. Whether the match will actually take place in Alkmaar remains to be seen. The repair work on the Alkmaarders' stadium will first have to be completed.
The last week of 'block 4', the week before the winter break, there are still 2 matches on the schedule. First, the cup match against Telstar. Kick-off is on Wednesday, December 18th, in Velsen-Zuid. 4 days later, the last match of the year will be played, at home against ADO.
It promises to be a busy, but especially exciting series. We're looking forward to it, bring on Saturday, Heracles at home!

It wasn't literally 90 minutes for Noa today, but we certainly enjoyed watching Noa. What drive, what self-belief, and above all, tremendous bravado. The afternoon didn't start as expected; we bega...
